WATERPROOF POLYESTER & WATER-RESISTANT NYLON

Fabric Care

Wash wet and soiled waterproof pants promptly as this will prevent stains and odors from developing. The use of hot water, chlorine/non-chlorine bleaches, and fabric softner is not recommended as they all have an effect on the polyester/nylon shell and waterproof lining. The use of national brand detergents (Tide, Cheer, etc.) is recommended for washing the pants.

Laundering

For the best results, hand wash the pants under warm running water using an anti-bacterial soap and rinse thoroughly. They can be machine washed on a gentle cycle using cold or warm water and a mild detergent. Do not use hot water or chlorine bleach as it will cause deterioration of the polyester and nylon shells and waterproof lining. Non-chlorine bleach may discolor the waterproof fabric and is not recommended. In addition, the use of fabric softners (liquid or sheets) is not recommended as they work by "coating" the fabric.

Drying

Line drying the pants indoors is highly recommended to preserve the integrity of the components and prevent wrinkles. Outdoor line drying is not recommended as UV rays from the sun can shorten the life of the material. They can be machine dried on a low setting (fluff) to remove excess moisture, then hung indoors to dry thoroughly.

POLYURETHANE LAMINATE (PUL)

Fabric Care

Wash wet and soiled pants promptly as this will prevent stains and odors from developing. PUL was originally designed for hospital use as a waterproof barrier and is able to withstand high heat. The use of  chlorine/non-chlorine bleaches and fabric softner is not recommended as they will have an effect on the polyester knit and waterproof lining. The use of national brand detergents (Tide, Cheer, Dreft, etc.) is recommended for washing the pants.

Laundering

For the best results, machine wash the pants initially in hot water as this will allow the holes caused by the sewing needle to seal. It is recommended to hand wash the pants under warm running water using an anti-bacterial soap and rinse thoroughly. They can be machine washed on a gentle cycle using cold or warm and a mild detergent. Do not use chlorine bleach as it will cause deterioration of the polyester shell and waterproof lining. Non-chlorine bleach may discolor the waterproof fabric and is not recommended. In addition, the use of fabric softners (liquid or sheets) is not recommended as they work by "coating" the fabric.

Drying

Line drying the pants indoors is highly recommended to preserve the integrity of the components. Outdoor line drying is not recommended as UV rays from the sun can shorten the life of the material. They can be machine dried thoroughly on a low or medium setting and removed promptly. Use of high dryer temperatures is not recommended as it can cause blistering of the waterproof coating.

Safety Pins

The use of regular safety pins is not recommended when wearing pin-on cloth diapers over our waterproof pants. These pins could snag the thread used to sew the side seams. The use of Dritz or Gerber Childrenwears plastic head diaper pins is recommended to prevent damaging the side seam threads.

Petroleum Based Products

It is a well known fact that petroleum based products will have an adverse affect on vinyl and rubber pants. We have no technical data on how these products will affect our polyester and PUL waterproof pants. We highly recommend avoiding the use of petroleum based products in order to preserve the integrity of the components.

Products such as Vaseline, diaper rash ointments, and baby oils should all be avoided. Check the ingredients listed on the package to see if it contains petroleum.
